thanks Marlene: I'm using French General Favorites faded reds and Rourennerie Deux. I'm doing machine applique the Kim Diehl way with freezer paper shiny side up on the wrong side of the applique fabric, then fabic edge ironed with my clover mini iron. Invisible thread on top with small zig zag stiches around applique make it almost invisible. PS we live on a lake too. in NH. Laura
